Yesterday marked John turning nine months old. These nine months have gone a lot faster than our first nine months together, that’s for sure. Despite all his recent illnesses since starting nursery, John has come leaps & bounds in this past month.
We have a full-time crawler on our hands as well as a boy who loves cruising. And in the last few days cruising has developed to standing whilst only leaning on something (no hands!) so I don’t think it’ll be long at all until we’re chasing a walker around the house.
John’s also dropping breast feeds left, right & centre and choosing to replace these with copious amounts of solid food. I can no longer have food to myself whilst he’s awake; everything has to be shared. Although it is nice to no longer have to spend hours of the day stuck to the couch, I do miss his dependence on me.
However, despite all his eating he’s still only 16lbs 12oz - 10lbs up on his birth weight. It still amazes me I created such a tiny child! Having said that, he has shot up in length recently and is perfectly in proportion.
Tooth number 2 broke through this week, which he took in his stride, even after the over-emotional first-tooth saga. And there's no signs of any other ones just now but they’ll no doubt follow soon.
One thing that has gone downhill is John’s sleep. I think it’s a horrible cocktail of his mind coping with all his new developments & the fact he’s caught so many bugs at nursery, but his sleep has been horrendous. It’s a miracle if we get him to settle at bedtime without an hour-long battle & then follows the numerous night wakings. I’m exhausted. But praying it’s just a phase.
It's only 3 more months and we’ll have a one year old on our hands. And yes, I’m already planning his birthday party! Lets just hope he’s sleeping again by then…
