This morning has been difficult. John has been difficult.
After waking up for the day at 5.30am and quickly showing he was still exhausted, boy spent 2 hours screaming the house down before giving in for a nap. And even once he woke up from this well needed nap, his mood hadn't improved. We soon lost count of the amount of times he threw himself face-first onto the floor whilst screaming his lungs out.
"Bugger this!" I thought before promptly getting us dressed and out the door. There was no way I was spending my morning arguing with a tanturming toddler, so decided we'd get out the house for a bit, hoping it'd also mean the afternoon would be more bearable too. But due to his suspected chickenpox we were limited as to where we could go.
I ended up pushing John back and forth along the Prom, stopping at one of Portobello's parks along the way to allow him out the buggy to burn off some energy. And it worked! He's sleeping again and fingers crossed he wakes up in a better mood.

What beautiful pictures of a beautiful boy!
ReplyDeleteDifficult days are so inevitable... especially when you've had a bunch of good ones in a row! I do exactly what you did and take my little one on a walk, on a car ride, really just anywhere away from the house! Thankfully it usually helps turn the day back around :)
Thanks for your comment Rachel, and your compliments!
DeleteUnfortunately today hasn't improved. Johns definitely not well and things have gone from bad to worse. Tantrum after tantrum! Hopefully things improve over the weekend - they need to or I fear for my sanity! Haha!
Oh my goodness! Those pictures are adorable! Hoping the sleep continues. We've been experiencing sleep regression lately thanks to teething. Ugh...
ReplyDeleteSleep seems to be carrying on but its been teamed with 5am wakings - not sure which I'd prefer!
DeleteBut teething is something we can relate to. Definitely not teething fans in our household.
And thank you for your compliments :)
There will always be days when kids are going to be really difficult and will totally test our patience. Adorable pictures, though. He's one cute boy.
ReplyDeleteThat was most certainly one of those days! Thankfully things have been better since. And thank you for your compliments.

I'm the opposite to you, i would much rather deal with a tantrum at home than risk a tantrum in public. If we're about to go out and Ella throws a strop then we wait until she's in a better mood before we go out. I'd love to live as close to the sea as you do, beautiful! And excuse me, but who said John could go from a baby boy to a little man?! He looks so grown up!
ReplyDeleteI always thought I'd be paranoid of John tantruming in public but in reality, it doesn't bother me at all. Despite the looks from other people, I know he's totally fine - fed, loved, well looked after... He's just frustrated and making it vocal! Total opposite of how I thought I'd react to public tantrums!
DeleteAnd I know! He needs to stop growing. All his baby-ness is just slipping away.
