Chickenpox?

See those spots over the side of John's face? They're making us think this little boy is in the early stages of chickenpox. The spots themselves cover his entire body but are yet to turn blistered like stereotypical chickenpox spots.

I first noticed the spots on his torso on Tuesday afternoon but assumed it was simply heat rash as he'd been very feverish the previous night and the weather had taken a nice turn. But yesterday I came home from work to find they'd spread from his torso to the rest of his body; limbs & in particular, his face.

Today there's no improvement (if anything they're a little worse) and John is definitely not his usual self -- in fact he's been, bluntly put, a pain in the arse. Not to mention that it's 6pm and he's on his 3rd nap of the day.

The fact that the spots haven't changed is what has me stumped though. Most things I read suggest that once they appear, they change very rapidly into the blistered spots that eventually scab over. But his feverish days and grumpy behaviour does make me think he's definitely not his usual self.

There's been no changes in soaps or materials John's come in contact with, nor any new foods, ruling out an allergy. And if it was heat rash I wouldn't expect it to spread in such a manner. Time will tell I suppose. But until then, give me strength to deal with the tantrums!

Have you experience in chickenpox? Do you think this is what John's suffering from?
