After a laid back morning spent at home, we headed to my parents for Christmas dinner. Being Christmas, of course things went wrong & we had to stop off at Iain's friends to get tools to fix the car exhaust which had decided now was the appropriate time to give up on us. But eventually though, we were on our way.
My Mum had prepared the traditional Christmas dinner of turkey & all the trimmings and Iain did a delicious starter of prawn & crayfish cocktail. John wasn't at all up for sitting through dinner and even took it upon himself to bang his head - hard! - just so he could get away to watch the Gruffalo (I kid, it was an accident - poor wee soul). David, who had been fast asleep since we left our house hours ago, also thought the best time to wake was right as I was about to tuck into my roasties. Typical! But it meant he got to join us at the table for his own dinner. After dinner we spent a chilled out evening chatting & having a drink. John was exhausted so we didn't have a late night but he did incredibly well coping with such a long, event-packed day.
It was a quiet, understated day but perfectly spent with those we love.
