John Update.

John is doing really well. It's hard to believe that it's only just-over a month until my little sausage will be two years old. He's had a bit of a growth spurt lately so has shot up in height and is finally into the next size clothing (18-24 months in tops and 9-12 months in trousers) and is growing along the 15th percentile quite nicely. The only thing that's given him bother recently has been yet another chest infection. A few weeks back, after a restless weekend with little no sleep, he had another course of antibiotics and a return appointment with the GP in a couple of weeks after. Thankfully the doctor wasn't overly concerned so no follow-up is needed at the moment.

His speech is coming along at an insane rate - it seems like everyday he picks up a new word, although his firm favourites are "Daddy" & "Car". Here's a wee list of words he's mastered from the top of my head. There is many more not listed and some we need to work on the pronunciation of - in particular "digger" which he currently says an "N" for instead of a "D".

  "Cuggle?" Cuddle?
  "Co-ah." Coat.
  "Sues." Shoes.
  "Duice." Juice.
  "Dadeeeee!" Daddy.
  "Mumma." Mummy.
  "Papa." Papa (aka. Grandad).
"Lella." Bella (Granny & Papa's dog).
  "Nana." Banana.
  "Gays." Grapes.
  "Baw." Ball.
  "Beck." Book.
  "Issoo." Tissue.
  "Woof-oof!" Woof-woof (aka. Dog).
  "Caaaaar!" Car/Van/Truck...
  "Boah!" Boat.
  "Broom-vroom." Broom-broom.
  "Ishy." Fish.
  "Ta!" Thank you.

As well as his growing vocabulary, John's understanding of words and sentences is amazing. You can pretty much ask him to do any simple tasks (tidy up his toys, put something in the bin, fetch an object from another room...) and he does it without hesitation. This is by far the latest development that never fails to blow me away. Time to start watching our language and setting a good example!

John's a very active little boy. He now insists on walking everywhere and loves to climb. His favourite place is the park, in particular the slide - launching himself down head first with no fear. Our days are non-stop though and each day we end up with a physically exhausted toddler, who thankfully is still sleeping 12 hours (7pm to 7am) most nights, with a two hour nap from 11am.

One thing that's dramatically changed recently is Johns appetite. I think it's more down to his distracted nature but he's not as interested in sitting down for a meal as he used to be. And when he does decide he's actually hungry, he'd much rather we fed him rather than him feed himself. But his current favourites are pasta, satsuma & "teeties" (aka. sweeties).

He's a comic, the class clown. John will do anything for attention and to make people laugh, particularly his Daddy. I'm slowly becoming more aware that farts, poo & sick won't be a passing humour. He's also extremely cheeky & a complete chancer. If he wants to be part of something he'll throw his arms up and insist on "cuggles" which once he's on your level you soon realise he's not actually interested in cuddles but instead just using you to become part of the goings-on.

And of course, he's become a big brother! Something I don't think he couldn't have taken any better than he has. John dotes on David - I lose count of the amount of cuddles & kisses he gives him in a day. He asks for him the moment he wakes up and always makes sure he gives him a proper goodnight before bed. And I know it probably won't last but he's always wanting to share everything with David, despite the fact David has no interest whatsoever.

My little sausage is slowly rather quickly becoming a proper little boy. And I couldn't be prouder or more excited to watch him continue to grow.

Don't forget - you can vote every 24 hours!
