Mickey Mouse Party | Part 2.

Cousins enjoying some cake icing.

David slept nearly the entire party in his chair but John still insisted he looked after the Mickeys.
John woke at 5am the morning of his party. We knew it would happen - sods law it would happen. We managed to settle him for another hour or so but kid was determined to have an early morning. And to be fair, we had loads to do anyway so an early start wasn't the worst thing in the world.

Commence Kim-&-Aggie Amy. The bathroom was scrubbed, the floors hoovered (again), the toys tidied (again...) & every surface in the house was polished. I have this over-powering need to make us appear like we don't live in a hovel, when really...we live in a hovel... After I finally managed to shower at the last minute, our guests started arriving at 1pm. We were joined by the boys Granny & Papa (my parents), their Grandad (Iain's Dad) & his partner Elspeth, Uncle Stuart & cousin Sophie, Aunty Holly & Uncle Neil, Aunty Kirsty & Alan and our friends, Dave & Kat with their girls, Josie & Chloe. It really wasn't that many people but in our little house it sure seemed like a lot!

We had a lovely afternoon of chatting with friends & family, playing with the toddlers & enjoying the huge amount of food that Iain had prepared. Being a 2nd birthday, the wee ones were still too young for us to think about doing party games so instead they played contently with all John's toys. And John, being an impatient 2 year old boy, couldn't wait to open his gifts. After sneakily trying to peel away at the paper of the gifts left out, we went ahead and opened them. John received some fantastic things, including a wooden toy garage (which he's not left alone since), a noisy tractor book (which is all he wants to read now...) and a dancing Mickey Mouse (which he was terrified of).

Then there was the cake! Again, my Mum did a fantastic job with a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse themed cake, with the techni-coloured surprise inside. The wee ones couldn't wait to get a piece, with the icing being a particular favourite. And I'm pleased to say that John did much better with the candles this year, blowing them out (with a little help from Papa) as opposed to trying to use his fingers!

Time to start planning the 3rd birthday! (And David's 1st, of course).
