We Are Reading: Edinburgh 123

It's no secret that I love Edinburgh. So when my lovely friend, Hannah, gave John a copy of Edinburgh 123 - A counting book for cool kids, I was instantly taken by it. Being a Primary School teacher, Hannah is obviously an expert in book buying and she made a great choice as John loves it too.

Featured on the cover are two Pandas, who are of course Tian Tian & Yang Guang, the infamous Giant Pandas of Edinburgh Zoo. They also feature on page two as the number 2, which by their lack of interest in breeding, they will most likely be destined to remain (but then that's a whole other socio-economic issue we're getting into...).

Edinburgh 123 counts right from number 1, through too number 10, counting various points of interest in Edinburgh, including 3 famous Edinburgh bridges, 4 landmark statues & 7 of Edinburgh's best museums. Can you guess what they all are? No? Well, don't worry - if you're like me and find yourself thinking "I recognise it but couldn't tell you what it actually is..." then there's a reference page at the back with a short explanation as to what each page features. Handy for when your wee one questions why there's 9 'shapes' - which are in actual fact shortbread (obvious when you know what they are, eh!).

This is one book that I really have no quibbles about reading numerous times a day. It has lovely simple pictures and is a great book for both babies, toddlers & parents to enjoy, particularly if you're familiar with Edinburgh. And for those over the water & in the west, there is also a Dundee 123 & Glasgow 123 if you'd prefer something a little more local.
