Living Arrows 10/52.

"I can't believe it still smells of vanilla!" Who'd thought to make a dolly smell of vanilla? The smell of my childhood, radiating from a creepy looking Cabbage Patch Kid. My Mum is currently in the progress of culling all traces of me & my childhood from her house (I kid, she's just having a clear-out) and amongst hundreds of TY Beanies & Busted CDs was this doll. Still wearing the same shoes I remember buying from Toys R Us with some Birthday money, with little bits of her woollen hair pleated throughout, and of course, still smelling of vanilla.

Bella the dog had been eyeing her up for long enough but it's John who really fell in love with her. Now re-named "Dolly", partly because he's not very creative with names (he's only 2, give him a break!) and partly because I can't actually remember her real name... She's now home with us and subject to lots of cuddles, nappy changes and wearing David's vests & socks. She also occupies the Jumperoo whilst David naps.

And no. I'm not worried about turning John gay.

  1. I LOVE this shot of John, he looks so content, happy and proud as punch with his doll. I hate the stereotype around boys not being able to play with dolls... 'you'll make them gay' lark. Riley is a real boys boy and love his diggers, trains etc. but out of everything his favourite toy is a tinkerbell doll that my niece gave him! It can only be good for them in my eyes and hopefully make them equally as receptive to the world as they grow older. xxx #livingarrows

    1. John's a total boys boy as well. He's obsessed with cars, trains & planes. Laughs at farts & poo as well! But he loves playing with his dolly. And to be honest, I'd much rather he threw her about than David! And I hate the "don't you worry he'll turn gay one day?" comments. Funny how it's never, "don't you worry he'll want to be a Daddy one day?"
