Mondays & Thursdays.

"Our Days To Sleep" Or so I tell people - but really, we don't usually sleep. These are John's nursery days, the days in which I'd usually be working whilst not on Maternity Leave. We decided to keep John in nursery when I started Maternity Leave, mainly to keep his routine but also partly to allow me some time with David.

And when David was a newborn, we did tend to spend a lot of the day sleeping - now though, they're well & truly our days of bonding. Mondays are spent having cuddles, playing, going for a walk & occasionally dropping in at our local Mum & Baby Group. Thursdays are for long lies, followed by our Baby Massage class & chilled out afternoons, usually involving a photo session (see above!).

I really try to cherish these days with David. It already feels like his babyhood is rapidly slipping away from me and I'd be lying if I said he always gets the degree of attention he really needs - all too often he's subject to his bouncy chair or playmat whilst I entertain John or try to catch up on the never-ending housework. To have just two days a week were he can get my full attention on cue helps ease the Mother's Guilt, just a little.

But as lovely as these days are, the highlight of them is always when we get to John's [amazing] nursery at 5.30pm and seeing big brother run through to greet little brother, always excitability announcing "Dayday!" as he wraps his arms right around him.

  1. Gorgeous photos. And I relished in the early days having a day a week with LL. Now they are both in nursery two mornings so I don't get any one on one time, but it is lovely if we ever get the odd snatched moment. x

    1. Thank you, Katie.

The only thing about time with David is it makes me realise I don't get enough one-on-one with John, just the occasional times when David naps for a couple of hours & even then we're restricted to the house. We did however manage to go swimming today though - just the two of us - also allowing Daddy some time with David too.

It must be nice to have those two mornings to yourself though - although I can assume they're jam packed with other things to do!
