Sudocrem Care & Protect.

I grew up in a house were there was always a tub of "magic cream" close to hand. My Mum used Sudocrem for everything - sun burn, cuts & grazes, nettle stings, spots, teething rash... Hence the name, "magic cream". Ever since I moved out in 2008, I've followed suit & always had a tub in my house too, destined to be used more than ever before with two little boys. And sore little bums are no exception to the powers of the magic cream!

I've never really used nappy rash cream whilst changing David's bum, aside from slathering on a layer of Sudocrem when he gets a bit red. But surely, like most things in life, prevention is better than cure? That's where New Sudocrem Care & Protect comes in. "You may already use Sudocrem Antiseptic Healing Cream to treat your baby’s nappy rash, but did you know that Sudocrem Care & Protect can be used to protect against nappy rash from occurring in the first place?" And seeing as David seems to be having reoccurring bouts of nappy rash of late, it was the perfect timing to give Sudocrem Care & Protect a go.
First impressions? What a great idea! Sudocrem in a tube!! No more refilling the tiny pot that came with our Bounty Pack in the hospital - this will fit right into our changing bag. Amazement over the packaging aside, I couldn't believe quite how thin the consistency was in comparison to the traditional Sudocrem - by no means a bad thing, just not what I expected. It has the familiar lavender scent and a little goes a long way, being easy to apply without too much rubbing in. As I say, David's had a bit of constant sore bum lately and since starting to use Sudocrem Care & Protect at each nappy change, his bum has remained a nice shade of pink, perfectly soft & completely rash free. So it does just what it says on the tin!

The only thing that I can fault in Sudocrem Care & Protect is that although it does help prevent the dreaded red bum, if it does occur (hello forgetful Daddy who never remembers to apply bum cream!) then there's still no beating the magic cream original, Sudocrem Antiseptic Healing Cream, to clear it up. But then Sudocrem do explain that Care & Protect is a preventative to nappy rash and the Antispetic Healing Cream is just that; a healing cream. So, figures. Best having both in stock for optimal baby-soft bums!

So Sudocrem Care & Protect gets a bums thumbs up from us! It makes a great barrier against nappy rash, as well as preventing any infections (ouch!) and at a RRP£3.99 [for 30g] it's pretty good value for money, especially since you're also purchasing the 80+ years expert knowledge that comes with the Sudocrem brand. Just be sure to check Sudocrem's website for any money off vouchers before your next purchase!
No sore bums here!
