Review: AVENT Manual Comfort Breast Pump.

I first encountered the AVENT Comfort range whilst taking part in some customer research through Baby Centre. I was lucky enough to take part in a feedback survey in which I received a free AVENT Comfort Manual Breast Pump, along side a selection of different sized bottles and teats.

Having previously used the market leading electric breast pump, I was sceptical in going back to using a manual pump. When John was born we encountered many problems whilst establishing breastfeeding, meaning I became a bit of an expressing expert. I was keen to find out how this pump could shape up in comparison to the others I'd tried.

At first I was hugely impressed. The pump is beautifully designed with your comfort in mind. With a soft massage cushion which mimics your babies suckling, making the let-down reflect easier to achieve.
More comfortable position
My positive experience continued with another huge pro (& my overall favourite feature), which is the amount of thought that has been put into the angle of the pump. This unique angle means you can actually sit up & relax, without having to lean forward over your breast pump in an attempt to avoid spills -- something I was familiar with from using my current breast pump.

Expressing with the AVENT Manual Comfort Breast Pump was a breeze. Never have I been able to express so quickly and efficiently. I do have a great supply but that aside, I could easily pump 150ml from each breast in no time at all.

The only negative I can say about this breast pump is the amount of parts there is. To wash and sterilise is a bit fiddly due to number of small removable pieces and it can be a pain the bum to construct when you're flapping about at work trying to express as quickly as possible. That being said, once you're familiar with the breast pump, it's quite self-explanatory to put together.

Overall I'm a big fan of the AVENT Manual Comfort Breast Pump and a complete convert to it. I'll definitely be using it again come November and have even considered upgrading to the new electric version, as although it's quite expensive, I'm confident based on my experience with the manual version that it'd more than worth the money.

Have you experience in expressing? What's your favourite breast pump? Do you think the AVENT Manual Comfort could be the pump for you?

  1. I also like to angled shape of the pump. Have been using this pump for 4 months now and it's really high quality. The only problem I had with it was the squeaky noise that it started to produce after few weeks. Vaseline helped with this.
