18 Month Old Favourites.

Whether you're planning ahead in terms of 1st birthday presents for the 1 year old in your life, or you just want to treat your own rapidly growing toddler, here's my list of Johns absolute favourite toys at 18 months old -- the ones that receive daily love & attention.

Bruin Farm Tractor & Trailer Set. We received this noisy little gem from Johns lovely little friend, Christina, for his 1st birthday a d it still remains a firm favourite with John now (even if Mummy & Daddy are often tempted to remove the batteries for time-to-time). The tractor features 5 farmyard animals a Bruin the teddy bear farmer, which when places unto their correct places in the tractor & trailer will make their associated animal noise, or in the case of Bruin bear, sing/yodel Old McDonald. The tractor also trails across the floor when you press the chimney -- something John will happily sit and watch going back & forth right through the house.

Toy Cars. I can now find toy cars in every corner of our house. John has recently become obsessed with then l -- cars, buses. Fire engines, vans, (typical boy, or what?). And he's now insisting on taking at least one car with him everywhere we go, to run across every wall, pavement, window, bench... I can see our Christmas having a very prominent transport theme!

Books. John's always loved a good book, knowing exactly where they fall into his bedtime routine and often spending some quality time emptying his book shelf, one-by-one and contently flicking through the pages as he goes. I also make a point of taking John to our local library every couple of weeks in search of some new favourites for him. Right now we have I Love My Mummy & I Love My Daddy by Giles Andreae & Emma Dodd, and it's rapidly become a firm favourite in our household. I even find John sat alone in his bedroom flicking through the pages, pointing & clapping on the pages he recognises from his own home life; "I like to watch her [Mummy] brush her hair, and dance around in her underwear."

Jake and the Neverland Pirates Ride-on. This is one that Granny and Papa treated John to so he had something to play with in their garden. And it didn't take him long to figure it all out! There's a whole array of buttons that make noise and interact with little ones. I was a little concerned that a john wouldn't quite grasp the concept of how to move & steer the ride-on but he in fact mastered it almost instantly with a little assistance. Now he's unstoppable -- tearing throughout Granny & Papas house and across the garden, with little consideration for anything in the way. Poor Bella (Granny & Papa's golden retriever) has almost lost her tail on numerous occaisions!

Mickey Mouse Soft Toy. "M-I-C-K-E-Y... M-O-U-S-E..." Mickey is quickly finding a place in our home, ever since John discovered the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Now wherever we go, if John spots anything Mickey related it results in him pointing and babbling profusely at the Disney icon. And at a recent trip to Toys R Us trip, he spotted a Mickey soft toy that he ended up carrying around the entire shop, meaning we of course had to buy him it. For a toddler that hasn't really taken to the concept of soft toys before, John definitely has a place in his heart for his Mickey.

How old is your little one? And what's currently their favourite toys?
