Amber Teething Necklace Review.

I've been teething. That's right, me. Not John, not David but me - the Mummy. Not the sympathy-type teething pains either, but the very real kiss my ass you horrible unnecessary part of my body wisdom teeth-type pain. And I'll tell you this, after over two weeks of dosing myself up with ibuprofen & paracetamol, being woken at 3am due to the pain and feeling like I can barely eat at times (...I know!), I have a new found sympathy for any grumpy wee one that is cutting an entire mouthful of the blighter's all at once.

Having heard of Amber Teething Necklaces in the past but after dismissing them as a fashion accessory more than necessity, I decided that given my recent tooth troubles I'd delve in & do bit more research on them, then decide whether they could be the answer to avoiding John & David going through the same as me. And I found that Amber has in fact been used for centuries to help with various ailments & pain.

"Amber is a natural analgesic and when worn on the skin, it releases healing oils that helps babies and young children to stay calm and more relaxed throughout teething."

I was still a little sceptical, thinking that if they were so great, then why does it seem like only hippies that use them? But seeing as I had some pennies in my Paypal account, I went ahead and ordered one. After a little bit of online browsing, I found a great Etsy seller, Amber And Haze LLC by EstanysFlame. I chose the Rainbow Sunset Unpolished Baltic Amber Baroque Teething Necklace and opted for the Safety Tension Clasp Upgrade, knowing that it's likely to be pulled on from time to time. It arrived a couple of weeks ago so we've now been trying it out for a wee while and I have to say, I'm pleasantly surprised.

I can't know for sure as he won't actually let me see in his mouth - teeth brushing is traumatic in our house! - but I'm 99% sure from John's finger fist chomping & constant bad mood, that he is currently welcoming his final baby teeth; the dreaded second molars. Since popping his brand new Amber necklace on him - around his ankle as he prefers to see it & will pull it off his neck - I've definitely noticed a change. He's no longer at risk of gnawing his fingers off and although we're still getting the toddler tantrums (anyone know a cure for them?) his moods have calmed down & the unprompted, inconsolable screaming has stopped. I could obviously let the cynic in me find some other reason for this, or put it down to coincidence, but I do now think that Amber could well have some of this magic that I've read all about.

Plus there's the fact that they're bloody cute. And John calls his necklace his, "pretty" because you know, he looks pretty with it on! I think I may even invest in one for David too - perhaps we could just skip the entire teething process with him?
**I was not compensated for this review - just really impressed with our new neckalce & wanted to share!**
